But in places like southwest Alaska, that means rain falling on top of snow, then freezing. Bhatt is part of a group of researchers assessing whether the Arctic tundra in southwest Alaska should be reclassified as sub-Arctic tundra.

As FTX spiraled into bankruptcy, Bankman-Fried's Robinhood stake became the biggest liquid line item on his balance sheet that he could potentially sell. Ela Bhatt was a lawyer for an Indian textile union in the early 1970s when she decided to help other types of workers, ones who were harder to organize and often barely noticed: women balancing heavy loads of fabric, often perched precariously atop their heads, to make deliveries to markets. She founded the Self-Employed Women’s Association, known as SEWA, in 1972 in her hometown of Ahmedabad in the Indian state of Gujarat. It became one of the country’s strongest advocates for India’s millions of women working informally in many kinds of low-paid positions, including maids, vegetable sellers, street food vendors, seamstresses and cigarette rollers. They often kept their families afloat by patching together work of all kinds—yet weren’t even recognized as workers in India’s official census data.

SURAT, India, Nov 4 (Reuters) - India's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), formed only a decade ago and having claimed power in Delhi and Punjab state, is set to be the biggest gainer in assembly elections in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state of Gujarat next month. AAP boss and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is known to have national ambitions. "Ninety-nine per cent I am going to vote for Aam Adam Party," said diamond worker Bharat Patel. "It looks like the surge of the Aam Aadmi Party is not going down," Yashwant Deshmukh, founder of polling agency CVoter, told Reuters. With pictures of Modi, the ruling party is underlining the advantages of having a BJP government at the state and nationally.
